Theatrical fundraising performance events in Wilton Manors, Florida that benefited nonprofit organizations serving the LGBTQ Community:
Director, Co-Producer, & Actor. Organized a staged reading of William M. Hoffman’s As Is, in the year of its 30th anniversary, that benefited the Stonewall National Museum & Archives, 2015. https://www.darrenpatrickblaney.com/productions#/as-is/
Improvisational Actor. Performed as an improvisational actor in the Pride Pups Improv Ensemble for an event that benefited SunServe, a nonprofit social services agency for at-risk LGBTQ community members in the greater South Florida Metropolitan Area, 2015.

Ibis Ally, 2015-2020. This program run by the University of Miami’s Student Affairs Department provides alliances to the University’s LGBTQ student population.

Participation in the above programs required attending training that covered topics related to meeting individual student needs, including making referrals to the University of Miami Counseling Center.

Art & Culture Board, Board Member, City of Oakland Park, Florida, 2019-2020. This work involves making recommendations to the City Council about cultural events, public art projects, and other arts-related matters in my current city of residence.
Local Government Academy, participating member, City of Oakland Park, Florida, 2019. Received approximately 30 hours of instruction about Oakland Park’s local government structure.
“Adopt-a-Street” program, volunteer organizer & street cleaner, City of Oakland Park, Florida, ongoing. Organized the 2019 Local Government Academy class to participate in the “Adopt-a-Street” volunteer program, in which we volunteer to clean two miles of NE 6th Avenue on a monthly basis.
Board of Adjustments, Board Member, City of Oakland Park, Florida, 2017-2019. This work involves making recommendations to the City Council about construction projects in Oakland Park, my current city of residence.
Volunteer, Florida Democratic Party, Oakland Park, 2016. Volunteered for Secretary Hillary Clinton’s historic campaign for President of the United States. Registered voters and canvassed to help “turn out the vote” in numerous underprivileged and working-class neighborhoods in Broward County, Florida. Approximately 24 hours of volunteer service.
Volunteer, Florida Democratic Party, Oakland Park, 2012. Volunteered for President Barack Obama’s re-election campaign through canvassing and phone banking in Broward County, Florida. Approximately 12 hours of volunteer service.
Volunteer, California Democratic Party, Los Angeles, 2008. Volunteered for Senator Barack Obama’s historic presidential election campaign through training events and volunteer phone banking to registered voters in Nevada. Approximately 16 hours of volunteer service.
