Written, designed, & performed by Estella McNair, The Mask of Blackness is a one-woman show that traces the history of African-American women in the United States. The play is composed of monologues that alternate between God and multiple women, all named Sarah, who live in various periods of North American history.
As Sarah moves through historical time, God becomes younger and younger, until in 2019, she is a child who stands in for our collective dream of a hopeful future.
